You May Still Apply For Services

If you are one of the nearly 200 people on a waiting list for services in Cass or Pulaski County, you may still apply for bridge funding - funding for services at Peak Community Services from now until the time you come to the top of that list. These are the steps to be taken to become eligible for consideration for services.

1. Complete and sign application information to the best of your ability.

2. Provide proof of being on a waiting list for waiver services for persons with developmental disabilities.

3. Provide up to one 8.5 x 11 (handwritten or typed) page of information that explains the circumstances surrounding the need for support.

4. Identify which support services you would like to receive.

The Peak Community Services Foundation will provide funds for support services to men, women and children who are on a waiting list for waiver services.

Recipients must agree that once they come to the top of the list and are offered government funds, they will report this change in status to the Peak Community Services Foundation.

Assuming funds are available and services are still offered by Peak Community Services, the Foundation will maintain funding for each applicant chosen until government funding begins.

Please contact Kathi Thompson to receive an application.

The Arc Of Indiana Provides Training On Advocacy

In June, Kim Dodson from The Arc of Indiana provided training to the Board of Directors of Peak Community Services. The training is one The Arc of Indiana does on a regular basis entitled How To Be An Effective Legislative Advocate.

Board members are now more aware of what we can do to advocate on behalf of persons with developmental disabilities, how we can do it to gain maximum impact, and when our advocacy efforts will be most likely to be effective.

Kim can talk! She compressed a three-hour training into one hour!
